Framing a silk scarf is one of the most elegant ways to turn wearable art into timeless home décor. Whether you own a luxurious Hermès scarf, a Louis Vuitton carré, or a cherished keepsake, framing it allows you to enjoy its beauty every day.
At Arts & Artisan, our easy magnetic scarf frames make the process simple — no stress and no professional framer required. Follow this quick guide for consistently perfect results.
Lay your scarf flat on a clean, lint-free surface. Make sure your hands are clean - or wear cotton gloves if desired.
Use a handheld steamer on the lowest setting to gently remove wrinkles. Hold the steamer a few inches away and avoid soaking the fabric. This will help your scarf look smooth and elegant in the frame.
Using a screwdriver, open only the bottom metal piece - no need to open the entire frame.
Place the scarf centered and face-up. Align the edges neatly. For larger scarves, smooth gently from the center outward.
The magnetic strips should align perfectly. If they don’t, you may need to flip them around to get a perfect alignment.
Reattach and secure the bottom metal piece.
(Note: Spring clips are needed only for the Scarf 45 frame; other sizes don’t require them.)
The frame corners should be fully closed with no gaps. If you notice a gap, stand the frame upright, loosen both screws on the metal connector, press the two frame pieces together to close the gap, and then tighten the screws again.
If the corner stays closed when you open the package, it should close properly once you tighten the screws.
Our frames come ready to hang. Use the included hanging brackets to display your scarf frame on the wall.
The Scarf 90 frame weighs about 16.5 lb (7.5 kg). We recommend using heavy-duty drywall anchors with screws for better support; you can find them on Amazon or at Home Depot.
For reference, 3/8" drywall supports around 65 lb, 1/2" supports about 75 lb, and 5/8" can hold up to roughly 80 lb.
You can use 50–100 lb picture frame wire if you prefer a wire-hanging setup; however, some customers have experienced issues with it on Scarf 90 frames. In some cases, the wire creates inward pressure that can cause the acrylic to push forward or “pop out,” especially if the frame is not securely tightened. The wire slightly lifts the frame at the top, which leads to this problem.
To avoid this issue, the frame must be firmly and securely tightened. The frame is supported by a solid wooden backboard, so once tightened properly, it will hold the acrylic in place.
In rare cases, if the issue still persists, we recommend hanging the frame without a wire.
Our scarf frame has been tested with picture-frame wire and passed all tough hanging tests. In the test photos, the wire placement was adjusted specifically for testing and display purposes. When you set up your own frame, simply adjust the wire to a shorter length and use two screws on the wall for best support.
